Look out for Emily’s lo-fi guide to Bishop Auckland, exploring hidden places and idea’s for new buildings. Pick up a copy from the Tourist Information Centre, The Four Clocks and Chic-argo and other venues around the town.

Emily is from Liverpool and has previously shown her work in London, New York and Berlin.

Graham Dolphin: Ticket to Ride

Go North East Service 21, leaving stand K from Bishop Auckland Bus Station every half an hour to Newcastle.

Get and on the bus and get a piece of art. Using lyrics from popular songs that use the theme of travel Graham has created hand drawn artworks to the fit the back of your bus ticket.

Graham Dolphin is based in Newcastle and has held solo exhibited his work in London, New York and Germany.

Ed Francis: Fruit Stickers

Ed’s work gives us the chance to look in more detail at images and objects, that we see everyday, but might usually ignore.

Ed is a sculptor who lives in Newcastle.

Nicola Parkin: Spray
Entrance to Kingsway Showroom

Nicola has created a bold and eye-catching artwork using stencil graffiti inspired by the one of the worlds most icon artists – Andy Warhol, exploring the value and need for contemporary art.

Nicola is a freelance graphic designer, illustrator and artist from Middlesborough.

Pinky Binks: Hold Your Breath
Fawcetts Butchers Shop Window, Newgate Street

Pinky Binks produces a personal response to the old butchers shop.

Pinky Binks is an art lecturer who spends his time between the UK and India.

Steven Walker: Mind Games
Display case outside Poundstretcher (42 Market Place) and various other venues around the town including Animal Forum and Hogans.

Steven work uses familiar advertising imagery to create a series of mind games – or artworks you can play with in your head as they you go about there daily shopping routine.

Steven is director of 50ft Long Horse – a illustration, arts and culture based organization in Newcastle.

Bridget Kennedy: Screen / Screen
Raphael’s Shop Window (Next to Chic-argo, 53 Fore Bondgate)

Watch over two weeks as a seemingly boarded up window, transforms into a detailed and delicate image, inspired by Bishop Auckland.

Bridget lives in Northumberland and uses sculpture, drawing, photography and moving image to explore how we view landscapes.

Steve Messam: Shadow
The Deer Shelter, Auckland Park

Find the artwork beneath your feet as Steve explores the architecture of the Deer Shelter using nature itself.

Steve lives in Cumbria and is co-founder of Fold – an artist led organization that promotes access to contemporary art in rural environments

Lady Kitt: FrAm-ed
With help from Daley Baber-Allen and Toby Lloyd
Various locations around Bishop Auckland

Lady Kitt has been asking local people to become part of unique piece of performance art by nominating a unique or inspiring place or person in the town.

The nominated places and will people will then become part a guided ‘art walk’ leaving from Bishop Auckland Town Hall from 5.15pm on Thursday 16th April.

Images from the performance will then be on display in Inshops from (73 – 77 Newgate Street) from the 23rd – 26th April.

Lady Kitt is an artist living in Bishop Auckland who produces interactive, accessible artworks.

Hannah Marsden: Welcome to Bishop Auckland
InShops :73 – 77 Newgate Street.

Over the past few weeks Hannah has been getting to know the different traders at Inshops.

On the 18th of April she will produce 100 Welcome Mats with designs influenced by her discussions with the traders. The work is inspired by the production of welcome mats Hannah witnessed on the streets of Kolkata, India and will be on display from the 19th – 26th April.

Hannah is originally from Bishop Auckland and is currently Artist in Residence at Allenheads Contemporary Art in Northumberland.

Kate Stobbart: Stitch

Relax and enjoy a drink at the bar as Kate and her team of seamstresses stitch a piece of artwork into an item of your clothing, just be careful which artwork you select…

Kate is from Newcastle and has exhibited her work as far away as China!

Rachel Clarke: No Place Like Home

From a small shed comes a strange cacophony of familiar cooking and eating sounds. Look inside the windows to see a homely interior and maybe witness those taking part in this unusual dinner party.

Carol Sommer and Paul Jex: Horror Asparagus Stories

Auckland Castle: 10am – 4pm

Carol and Paul invite visitors to the Food Festival to take a moment to relax, have a seat, pop on a pair of headphones and enjoy listening to song of their choice that could have been inspired by food or drink.

Carol and Paul are artists from Darlington who work together undertaking ongong research, collection, collation and organization of various types of material.
